The benefits of fruits and vegetables on cardiovascular health are confirmed

EPIC "European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition" confirm that daily consumption of fruits and vegetables would reduce cardiovascular mortality by 22%.

People who eat fruits and vegetables frequently have the lowest risk of dying from ischemic heart disease. The work has been highlighted on the University of Oxford, UK.
The authors followed more than 200,000 people aged 45 to 85 years to assess the link between consumption of fruits, vegetables and cardiovascular mortality.

During the study, 1638 people died from ischemic heart disease. The results show that cardiovascular mortality in people consuming at least 8 servings of fruits and vegetables each day is reduced by 22% compared to those who eat less than three a day. Furthermore, any additional portion reduces the risk of 4%.
